‘Kalki 2898 AD’ opened in theatres on June 27 and emerged as a massive hit at the box office while receiving rave reviews. The film was directed by Nag Ashwin and featured Prabhas as Bairavaa, a bounty hunter. Venugopal, the film’s storyboard artist, has now revealed some interesting information about the casting process.

Mohanlal Was Considered For The Role Of Supreme Yaskin

Kamal Haasan impressed fans with his portrayal of Supreme Yaskin, the antagonist, in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The actor, however, took a long time to give the nod to the biggie. In an interview with a YouTube channel, storyboard artist Venugopal said that the makers were keen on getting Kamal onboard but planned to approach Mohanlal if things did not work out. Luckily, for them, Kamal agreed to sign the project and the rest is history.

The ‘Indian’ star had limited screen time in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ but will appear more prominently in the sequel.

All About ‘Kalki 2898 AD’

‘Kalki 2898 AD’, directed by Nag Ashwin, is a sci-fi action drama set in a futuristic world. It stars Prabhas as Bhairava, a selfish bounty hunter, and marks his maiden collaboration with the ‘Mahanati’ director. The film revolves around the conflict between ‘light’ and ‘darkness’ and has references to The Mahabharata. Ashwin’s magnum opus features Deepika Padukone as the leading lady and marks her Tollywood debut.

The cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Dulquer Salmaan, Saswata, Vijay Deverakonda, and Disha Patani. The ‘Indian 2’ star plays the Supreme Yaskin, the heartless antagonist, in the pan-India film.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ ended on a thrilling note with Prabhas’ character transforming into the modern Karna and coming to Ashwatthama’s rescue. The sequel is expected to begin where the first part ended and focus on the war between “good” and “evil”

The flick opened in theatres on June 27.
