Kiran Rao’s latest directorial venture, ‘Laapataa Ladies’, has been chosen as the prestigious opening film for the upcoming second edition of the IFFM Summer Festival. Scheduled to take place from February 29th to March 2nd, the festival will feature the Australian premiere of the film on February 29th, followed by its official release on March 1st, 2024.
Expressing her excitement about the film’s screening at the festival, Kiran Rao conveyed her gratitude, stating, “It’s a tremendous honor for ‘Laapataa Ladies’ to lead the lineup at IFFM. Set in rural India in 2001, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ follows the story of two young brides who are separated during a train journey. The narrative unfolds as Kishan, a dedicated police officer, embarks on a mission to unravel the mystery behind their disappearance.
Produced under the banners of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with screenplay by Biplab Goswami, ‘Laapataa Ladies’ promises to captivate audiences with its compelling storyline and nuanced portrayal of human emotions.
