A former project manager for Kanye West’s Yeezy company, Murphy Aficionado, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper—legally known as Ye—and his businesses, Yeezy LLC and Donda Academy.
The lawsuit, comprising 12 allegations, includes claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Aficionado is seeking a jury trial.
Aficionado, who worked for Yeezy for nine months starting in October 2022, alleges he was not compensated for his work despite putting in 50 to 70 hours weekly, often staying overnight at the office.
He claims his termination was both unlawful and damaging, causing economic, emotional, and reputational harm. The complaint also accuses the companies of withholding his final paycheck and failing to pay penalties, including additional wages and interest.
According to the lawsuit, Aficionado alleges that West frequently made antisemitic remarks, including comments that “Jews are out to get me” and “Jews got [ex-wife] Kim [Kardashian] and my kids.” Additionally, West reportedly mocked Aficionado’s Filipino heritage, referring to his traditional “Batok” tattoos as “ugly” and suggesting they be removed.
In February 2023, West allegedly instructed Aficionado to oversee the relocation of Donda Academy but became irate when informed of the necessary permits. The school later ceased operations in July 2023, and Aficionado claims his Yeezy assignments were subsequently withdrawn, leaving him excluded from the offices.
Aficionado recounts multiple disturbing incidents during his employment. In one instance at the Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria in November 2022, West summoned him to his hotel room for a “work meeting.”
Upon arrival, Aficionado claims it was evident West and his girlfriend, Bianca Censori, had just engaged in sexual activity. West allegedly exposed Censori’s nudity to him and made inappropriate comments, including sharing nude photos of Kim Kardashian.
In a separate incident, Aficionado was asked to remain in West’s hotel room while West and a masseuse engaged in sexual activity. A similar situation involved West and a famous NFL player, both awaiting massages in towels.
The lawsuit states Aficionado felt extreme discomfort during these interactions but complied with West’s commands out of fear for his job security.
The lawsuit seeks financial compensation for unpaid wages, damages for emotional distress, and legal fees. Aficionado also accuses West and his companies of malice, fraud, and oppression in their treatment of him.
No representatives for West have commented on the allegations as of yet.
