Boxing legend Mike Tyson, 58, was faced with 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in an eight-round heavyweight bout on Friday night at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight will air live on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET, promising to be an electrifying event that pits experience against youth.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has sanctioned the match, which includes unique conditions: each round will last two minutes instead of the standard three, and both fighters will wear 14-ounce gloves, heavier than the usual 10-ounce gloves for heavyweight contests.
From Postponement to Showtime
The bout was initially scheduled for July 20 but had to be postponed after Tyson suffered a medical setback. During a flight from Miami to Los Angeles in May, he experienced a painful ulcer flare-up that required immediate medical attention.
Now fully recovered, Tyson is ready to return to the ring, rekindling excitement among fans eager to see the former heavyweight champion face off against one of boxing’s rising stars.
Mike Tyson: A Legacy of Dominance
Tyson’s storied career is the stuff of legend. In 1986, at just 20 years old, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history. A year later, he unified all three major belts to become the undisputed heavyweight champion, successfully defending his titles six times.
However, his reign was interrupted in February 1990, when he suffered a shocking 10th-round knockout loss to James “Buster” Douglas. Despite the ups and downs, Tyson’s record stands at an impressive 50 wins, 6 losses, and 44 knockouts, cementing his place as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
Jake Paul: From Internet Sensation to Boxing Contender
Jake Paul may have started his career as a YouTube personality, but he has rapidly carved out a niche in professional boxing. Since his debut in 2020, Paul has built a record of 10 wins, 1 loss, and 7 knockouts, initially taking on former MMA fighters before stepping into more traditional boxing matchups.
Paul’s sole defeat came in February 2023 against Tommy Fury, but he has since bounced back with three consecutive victories. The fight against Tyson represents a significant leap in competition, and Paul has expressed confidence in his ability to surprise the boxing world.

The excitement doesn’t stop with the main event. The co-main bout features a rematch between two of the biggest names in women’s boxing: Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Taylor, the undisputed junior welterweight champion and ESPN’s No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter, will face Serrano, a seven-division champion ranked No. 3, in a continuation of their historic rivalry.
