Variety, a US-based media outlet, confirmed Streep will reprise the recurring role of Loretta Durkin, whom she started playing in Season 3 of the series. Her character was the love interest of Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) who is one of the leads of the show. She participated in the Broadway show directed by him this recent season. Season 3 ended dramatically with Meryl’s character receiving a job offer in Los Angeles.
