Pierce Brosnan Feels Cillian Murphy Would Do A ‘Magnificent Job As James Bond’

Pierce Brosnan expressed his belief that Cillian Murphy would be an excellent choice for the role of James Bond. Speaking at the annual Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles, Brosnan praised Murphy, stating that he would “do a magnificent job as James Bond on His Majesty’s Secret Service.” Both actors attended the event at JJ Abrams’s Bad Robot Productions in Santa Monica, which celebrates the achievements of Irish actors and filmmakers.

Brosnan, who portrayed the fictional secret agent from 1995 to 2002, discussed the speculation around the next James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure after “No Time To Die” in 2021. The role has been played by seven actors since the franchise’s inception in 1962, with Sean Connery as the first Bond in “Dr. No.”

Several names have been rumoured to succeed Craig, including Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Cillian Murphy, who is one of the favourites to win Best Actor at the 96th Academy Awards for his role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” mentioned he hadn’t heard the Bond rumors and emphasized his focus on enjoying the Academy Awards ceremony. He is competing against Paul Giamatti, Colman Domingo, Bradley Cooper, and Jeffrey Wright in the Best Actor category.
