‘Raayan’ Day 1 Box Office Collection: Dhanush’s Film Fails To Beat Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’

Dhanush’s ‘Raayan’, which opened in theatres on July 26, has opened to a good response at the Tamil Nadu box office despite releasing alongside ‘Deadpool And Wolverine’. The Tamil film had created a fair deal of buzz among fans prior to its release with its intense trailer. This seems to have worked in its favour.

Dhanush’s ‘Raayan’ Off To A Flying Start In Tamil Nadu

‘Raayan’, starring Dhanush, has taken a strong start in Tamil Nadu and received rave reviews from fans. According to Ramesh Bala, a trade tracker, the film collected nearly Rs 10 crore at the box office.

The film has done well in B and C centres, which is not too surprising given the content

‘Raayan’ has, however, failed to outperform ‘Indian 2’. The Kamal Haasan-led flick raked in Rs 13 crore on its first day when it hit screens earlier this month.

About ‘Raayan’

Directed by and starring Dhanush, ‘Raayan’ is an action-thriller that centres on a fast-food hotel owner as he tries to punish those who had once harmed his family. The cast includes Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, and Sundeep Kishan D’s 50th film in a lead role, the movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran. The music is composed by AR Rahman.

‘Raayan’ is Dhanush’s second film as a director. He had previously wielded the microphone for ‘Pa Paandi’, which received rave reviews.

The ‘Asuran’ actor, meanwhile, is going through an exciting phase on the work front. He will soon be seen ‘Kubera’, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nagarjuna. It is directed by Sekar Kammula. Dhanush will also be seen in a film based on the life of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. The biopic will be directed by Arun Matheswaran, best known for his work on ‘Rocky and ‘Captain Miller’.
