Dhanush’s Raayan opened in theatres on Friday (July 26) and got off to a good start in Tamil Nadu. The action-thriller raked in Rs 12 crore on the first day and received rave reviews. The flick remained the top choice of fans on its second day but witnessed a minor drop in collection as per the initial estimates.
Dhanush’s ‘Raayan’ Has A Good First Saturday
‘Raayan’, starring Dhanush in the titular role, hit screens on July 26 and grossed a phenomenal Rs 12 crore on the opening day. It stayed strong on its second day as per the initial trends. Ramesh Bala, a trade tracker, told News X that the film will either stay flat or witness a slight drop in collection on its first Saturday (July 27).

“I think, it will have another double-digit day. For Raayan. Films usually plateau on the second day in this market and then grow on Sunday. I am expecting something similar here too. The day 2 collection will be the same as that of the opening day or maybe a bit lower say 90% of it,” he said.
‘Raayan’ is also doing well in the Telugu states and Kerala. It, however, hasn’t found any takers in the Hindi market.
About ‘Raayan’
Directed by and starring Dhanush, ‘Raayan’ is an action-thriller about a fast-food restaurant owner seeking retribution against those who harmed his family. The film features Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, and Sundeep Kishan. Marking Dhanush’s 50th lead role, the movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran with music composed by AR Rahman. ‘Raayan’ is Dhanush’s second film as a director. He had previously wielded the microphone for ‘Pa Paandi’, which received positive reviews.
The National Award winner, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. ‘D’ will soon be seen in ‘Kubera’, which marks his first collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna. It also features Nagarjuna in a key role. Dhanush also has a film based on the life of Ilaiyaraaja’s life in his kitty.
‘Raayan’, meanwhile, hit screens on July 26 and is currently playing in theatres.
