Much of this has come from Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states. The film has, however, not found many takers in the Hindi market. ‘Raayan’ is likely to witness some growth over the second weekend given the healthy reviews.

About ‘Raayan’

Directed by and starring Dhanush, ‘Raayan’ is an action-thriller about a fast-food restaurant owner as he tries to punish those who harmed his family. The film features Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, and Sundeep Kishan. Marking Dhanush’s 50th lead role, the movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran with music composed by AR Rahman.

‘Raayan’ is Dhanush’s second film as a director. He had previously wielded the microphone for ‘Pa Paandi’, which received positive reviews. The National Award winner, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. ‘D’ will soon be seen in ‘Kubera’, which marks his first collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna. It also features veteran Telugu star Nagarjuna in a key role. Dhanush also has a film based on the life of Ilaiyaraaja in his kitty.

The film will be directed by Arun Matheswaran, best known for his work on ‘Captain Miller’. Ilaiyaraaja will compose music for the biographical drama. Moreover, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are expected to have cameos in the flick.

‘Raayan’, meanwhile, was released on July 26 and is currently playing in theatres. This is Dhanush’s second release of the year after Captain Miller.
