Rajinikanth will soon be seen in ‘Thalaivar 171’, which marks his first collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has garnered attention as it is said to feature the mass hero in a new avatar.
According to the latest reports, Rajinikanth will play a don in the biggie and his character is likely to have negative shades. The grapevine also suggests that ‘Thalaivar 171’ will be set against the backdrop of gold smuggling.
Interestingly, Rajinikanth has played a don in several films with ‘Baashha’ (1995) being the most iconic of the lot. The rumoured plot of ‘Thalaivar 171’ suggests it may have shades of the yesteryear classic.
Lokesh Kanagaraj recently shared the first look poster of ‘Thalaivar 171’ much to the delight of fans. The director further confirmed that the film’s official title will be revealed on April 22.
Lokesh, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. He impressed fans with his work in ‘Inimel’, co-starring Shruti Haasan. His latest directorial venture ‘Leo’ hit screens in 2023 and did fairly well at the box office. Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha, and Priya Anand fronted the cast.
Rajinikanth, on the other hand, delivered a blockbuster with ‘Jailer’ The action-comedy featured Superstar in the role of a former cop and floored critics with its stylish presentation. Its cast included Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Sunil, Tamannaah, and Ramya Krishnan. Rajinikanth also had an extended cameo in ‘Lal Salaam’, which underperformed at the box office.
The ‘Enthiran’ actor is working on ‘Vettaiyan’, directed by TJ Gnanavel of ‘Jay Bhim’ fame. It also features Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, and Fahadh Faasil in key roles ‘Vettaiyan’ is expected to open in theatres later this year. This, however, is yet to be confirmed.
