Ranbir Kapoor is one of the biggest names in the film industry today. He enjoys a dedicated fan following because of his impressive filmography and striking personality. He began his career in 2007 with the much-hyped ‘Saawariya’. The romantic hit screens amid fanfare but ended up being a flop. In a recent interview, the heartthrob said that he is “grateful” his career started on a disappointing note.

Ranbir Kapoor recently sat down for a chat with Nikhil Kamath, an entrepreneur. During the interaction, he opened up about the challenges he faced before and shortly after entering the industry.

He recalled assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali on ‘Black’ and said that the ace filmmaker was “short-tempered” on the sets. Ranbir went on to call Saawariya a “disaster” and said that it hardened him for the journey ahead.

“And then Saawariya happened, which was a very big disaster, and in hindsight, I’m very grateful that it didn’t do well because that really prepared me for life,” he said.

‘Saawariya’, which was based on ‘White Nights’, opened in theatres alongside ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ended up being a flop. It grossed a disappointing Rs 39 crore at the worldwide box office on a budget of Rs 45 crore. It starred Sonam Kapoor as the leading lady and marked her Bollywood debut. The cast included Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Zohra Sehgal.

Busy Time For Ranbir

Ranbir Kapoor, meanwhile, is going through an exciting phase on the work front. He was last seen in ‘Animal’. The Sandeep Vanga-helmed actioner centred on the complex relationship between a father and his son. Ranbir is working on ‘Ramayana’. He will also be reuniting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘Love and War’. He is expected to team up with Sandeep for ‘Animal Park’. The film, a sequel to ‘Animal’, will go on floors after the director wraps up ‘Spirit’.
