Samantha took a break from work some time ago after being diagnosed with myositis, a condition which affects the muscles. In a new interview, ‘The Family Man 2’ star opened up about the decision and said that it benefitted her even though it was the ‘hardest’ one of her life. She further said that the break helped her understand and heal her insecurities
“I’ve had my fair share of self-loathing and really low confidence, but I’ve always strived to grow as a person. With that growth came a deeper understanding of my insecurities and self-loathing. I was able to heal by addressing them – not by trying to fix them from the outside, but by fixing the inner trauma that needed more healing than any external quick fix,” Samantha told Femina
The actress also revealed that the setback made her a stronger person.
“People might think that success defines you, but it is failure and loss that truly define you, and introduce you to the best version of yourself. These lows and these losses have made me a person I am truly proud of,” she said.
On the work front, Samantha was last seen in ‘Kushi’. The romantic drama was directed by Shiva Nirvana and featured Sam as the leading lady opposite Vijay Deverakonda. It received good reviews and made a decent impact at the box office.
The ‘Mersal’ star is currently awaiting the release of ‘Citadel’, co-starring Varun Dhawan. It is the brainchild of Raj and DK, who previously collaborated with her for ‘The Family Man 2’. She penned a long note thanking the team after wrapping up its shoot. In it, she said that the makers had full faith in her abilities despite her health issues.
