Vibhuti Arora, the founder of House of Beauty and a participant in Season 3 of Shark Tank India, recently shared her candid thoughts on her time on the show. Arora, also known for her expertise in face yoga, revealed her struggles during her pitch and criticized the judges, particularly Vineeta Singh, for their handling of her presentation.
In a conversation with Ayushman Pandita on his podcast, Arora expressed her disappointment with the outcome of her appearance on Shark Tank India. Despite the relatively positive portrayal on television, Arora described her actual experience as much more distressing. She recounted feeling overwhelmed and stifled, particularly by Singh’s repeated criticisms of her packaging and her perceived lack of opportunity to articulate her points.
Arora admitted that she struggled to maintain her composure during the pitch and confessed to wanting to escape from the intense pressure of the show. She described feeling trapped, akin to being in a cage, and admitted that she had difficulty controlling her emotions, fearing she might break down on national television.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the pitch, Arora revealed that she experienced a blackout due to the stress and anxiety of the situation. Initially hopeful for funding, she realized later that she was merely on the defensive throughout the interaction. Despite the challenging experience, Arora expressed admiration for certain judges, particularly Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, whom she regarded as her “dream shark.”
Interestingly, Arora disclosed that following the airing of her episode, her sales experienced a significant boost, nearly doubling from ₹45 lakh to close to ₹1 crore. This surge in sales demonstrated the tangible impact of her appearance on Shark Tank India.
The discussion surrounding Arora’s experience on the show has sparked varied reactions on social media, with some users empathizing with her struggles and others questioning the validity of her product’s pitch. Despite the mixed responses, Arora’s story sheds light on the emotional toll of entrepreneurship and the challenges faced by aspiring business owners in high-pressure environments like Shark Tank India.
