SS Rajamouli expressed his appreciation to his Japanese fans for warmly embracing the Broadway adaptation of his film RRR. The renowned director, currently in Japan, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share his gratitude as the 110-year-old Takarazuka company staged the play.
Rajamouli shared photos and videos from the event, capturing moments of gratitude and excitement. In one video, he thanked the audience with folded hands as they applauded inside the theatre. The actors on stage reciprocated the gesture, smiling and clapping along with the crowd. Another clip showed Rajamouli leaving the venue while receiving a standing ovation from the attendees.
A picture depicted Rajamouli alongside the actors, all dressed in white attire, while Rajamouli stood out in a blue kurta adorned with a colorful shawl draped over his shoulder. Sharing the post, he captioned it, “It’s an honour that our RRR has been adapted as a musical by the 110-year-old Takarazuka company. Thank you Japanese audience for embracing the Broadway play of RRR just like the film itself.” He added, “Overwhelmed by your response… Can’t appreciate all the girls enough for your energy, talent, and meticulousness in the show. ARIGATO GOZAIMASU.” Arigatou Gozaimasu means Thank you in Japanese.
Accompanied by his son-producer SS Karthikeya, Rajamouli travelled to Japan for special screenings of his blockbuster film RRR. The movie premiered in Japan on October 21, 2022, garnering significant success at the box office, with earnings exceeding 410 million yen (approximately ₹23 crore).
