Actress Suhani Bhatnagar, who starred in Dangal, departed this Friday night in Delhi. Even though she passed away from an immune system condition, many of her co-stars were shocked by her passing. Suhani, then 19 years old, played the part of junior Babita Phogat in Aamir Khan’s film Dangal. Suhani’s mother broke down in tears as she spoke remembering how her late daughter had given them recognition in the community. She is grieving this significant loss.
Suhani’s mother Pooja said in an interview, “Har parent proud feel karta hai ki woh apne bache ke naam se jana jata hai.” What’s your identity, Hamari? While Suhani’s wajah se hi mila hai, Hume jo recognition mila hai woh ki ye “Dangal girl ke parents hain,” jahan bhi jana ho uski recognition hoti thi.

She also revealed that Aamir Khan continued to communicate with Suhani following Dangal. Pooja stated, “Aamir Khan was always there for her, but we hadn’t told anyone about her illness, not even him. She was a bright young lady who aspired to be the best at everything she did. She began to experience hand swelling, but we initially assumed it was just a skin condition. She saw several dermatologists, but none of them were able to help. She was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis when we brought her to AIIMS. She developed an infection while receiving treatment, and her body began to produce so much fluid that her lungs collapsed and she passed away.
