Fans of Deepika Padukone were filled with joy as The Academy paid homage to the actress’ iconic song Deewani Mastani. The official Instagram handle of The Academy shared a clip of the actor dancing to the song from her 2015 film Bajirao Mastani. Deewani Mastani, sung by Shreya Ghoshal, is part of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial, which also stars Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
The Oscars’ official page captioned the clip of Deepika’s performance with, “Deepika Padukone performing Deewani Mastani (sung by Shreya Ghoshal) from the movie Bajirao Mastani. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra.” Ranveer Singh, proud both as an actor and husband, reacted to the post, describing it as ‘mesmeric’ with a sparkle emoji.
In March last year, Deepika introduced the performance of the Oscar-winning RRR song Naatu Naatu at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Naatu Naatu, composed by MM Keeravani, made history as the first Telugu song to be performed, nominated, and winning at the Oscars.
This year, Deepika was among the presenters at the BAFTA 2024 awards. On the professional front, her latest appearance was in the Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Fighter’. On the personal front, Deepika and Ranveer are anticipating the arrival of their first child later this year. The couple announced the pregnancy a few weeks ago, revealing that she is due in September.
