For over a decade, Robert Downey Jr has expressed his desire to visit India. On his 59th birthday, let’s revisit the time when he mentioned being a fan of actor Aamir Khan since watching Lagaan. In a 2010 interview with a leading daily, Downey Jr praised Aamir Khan’s performance in Lagaan, describing him as extraordinary. He said, “I happened to see Lagaan and believe Aamir Khan was extraordinary.”

The Hollywood heavyweight, renowned for his portrayal of Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, filmed a scene set in India for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Despite depicting an Indian wedding, the scene was not shot in the country. In his interview, Downey expressed a keen interest in Indian culture and shared his desire to visit the country, stating, “India is a land waiting to happen for me, and I would love to visit it as soon as I get a chance. All that comes to mind when I hear of this country is diversity, vibrancy, and Bollywood boogie.”

This is incredible. I am humbled. I am going to bow in front of you. This is deeply appreciative.” He further remarked, “You guys are just amazing fans. I can’t wait. I cannot believe I haven’t been to India. I’m coming there so damn soon.”
