Katrina Kaif’s dedication to fitness and health is no secret. Known for her disciplined lifestyle, the actress’s dietary habits are a significant part of her routine. Recently, her nutritionist, Shweta Shah, shed light on how Katrina manages her diet with a unique approach to food.
“Katrina sticks to ghar ka khaana (home-cooked food) and always carries it with her. She is consistent with her food choices,” said Shah. “She understands food as medicine and knows the impact it has on her body. Katrina doesn’t blindly follow trends or internet advice; she seeks answers and alternatives, like sources of iron or which juices to drink.”
Ayurveda and Self-Care Practices
Shah revealed that Katrina embraces Ayurvedic principles and follows self-care rituals such as oil pulling, shatpavali (taking 100 steps after meals), and nasal cleansing. “Given her pita body type, she needs cooling foods. She regularly consumes black raisins, fennel seeds, and ash gourd juice. If ash gourd juice isn’t available, she opts for mint, coriander, and amla juice,” Shah explained. “Katrina only eats two meals a day and prefers home-cooked meals.”
Benefits of Eating Two Meals a Day
According to Dr Pradeep Shrivastava, an Ayurvedic expert from Krishna’s Herbal and Ayurveda, eating two meals a day aligns with the Ayurvedic principles of intermittent fasting. “A 6-hour gap between meals allows the body to fully digest and absorb nutrients. The first meal, eaten later in the morning, fuels daily activities and aligns with the body’s detoxification process. The second meal, consumed early in the evening, allows time for digestion before sleep, preventing toxin accumulation.”
Dr Shrivastava added, “This practice improves metabolic flexibility, reduces carbohydrate dependency, and enhances the ability to utilize stored energy, such as body fat. However, individual results may vary, and a balanced diet and regular exercise are essential for effective weight management.”
Katrina Kaif’s approach to diet and nutrition, guided by Shweta Shah, emphasizes the importance of understanding one’s body and choosing food that supports overall well-being. Her disciplined regimen and adherence to Ayurvedic principles highlight the benefits of mindful eating and self-care practices in maintaining health and fitness.
