Bollywood actor Vidya Balan has filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police against an unidentified individual who created a fake Instagram account using her name, soliciting money from people under false pretenses. The Mumbai Police disclosed that the impersonator, operating under an identical Instagram handle, promised individuals job opportunities in exchange for monetary transactions.
The Khar Police Department has initiated an FIR under Section 66 (C) of the Information Technology Act in response to Balan’s complaint. This incident has posed a significant challenge for Balan, whose online presence garners a large following. Known for her engaging videos and reels, Balan’s reputation has been compromised as someone is exploiting her identity for illicit financial gain.
A police official revealed that the perpetrator not only fabricated a matching Instagram ID but also established a corresponding Gmail account to reach out to individuals associated with the Bollywood industry. The imposter approached unsuspecting victims, promising them employment prospects in exchange for financial remuneration.
Upon discovering the fraudulent activities, Vidya Balan promptly reported the matter to the Mumbai Police. The Khar Police promptly registered an FIR against the unknown culprit under Section 66 (C) of the IT Act, commencing an investigation into the matter.
This is not the first time Balan has addressed such fraudulent behavior. Previously, she had shared the issue via her Instagram stories, raising awareness about the unauthorized account bearing her name.
In the realm of her professional endeavors, Vidya Balan is gearing up to reprise her iconic role in the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ franchise. Renowned for her portrayal of Manjulika in the 2007 psychological horror-comedy film, Balan is set to return to the series. Actor Kartik Aaryan, who starred in the second installment and will feature prominently in the third, expressed his excitement about Balan joining the project.
Bazmee, who directed the second installment, will helm the third installment as well. Producer Bhushan Kumar expressed his enthusiasm for extending the franchise, emphasizing their commitment to delivering an entertaining cinematic experience that honors the legacy of the series while offering audiences double the laughter and thrills.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ is slated for release this Diwali, promising audiences an exciting continuation of the beloved franchise.
