Vijay Deverakonda Recalls Auctioning His First Filmfare Award For “A Good Chunk Of Money” That He Gave Away

Actor Vijay Deverakonda has gained immense popularity in recent times. He has won multiple awards as well. However, Vijay recently disclosed that he does not care much for awards and certificates. He even auctioned one of his prized trophies. Vijay said he tends to give away many of his awards. Some might be in his office, some his mother has kept somewhere. He gave one award to filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Vijay auctioned his Filmfare Best Actor trophy and donated the proceeds. He feels donating the money creates a better memory than displaying an award at home. Vijay shared, “We auctioned it and got a good chunk of money that we gave away. I think that’s a nicer memory for me than a piece of stone in my house.”

The actor also shared he consciously opts for films that are not too dark or niche. He wants to entertain all audiences, including youth and elders. He knows he is limiting himself but won’t choose projects that are either too grim or appeal to only a small segment.

Vijay is now preparing for the release of Family Star with Mrunal Thakur, arriving in theatres on April 5. After that, he has another film tentatively called VD12, about which few details are out yet. Overall, Vijay aims to balance serious acting with mainstream entertainment appealing to diverse viewers.
