The song “Aankhein Khuli” hails from Mohabbatein, a musical romance that starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aishwarya Rai, alongside an ensemble cast including Uday Chopra, Jimmy Sheirgill, Jugal Hansraj, Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma, and Preeti Jhangiani. The film’s narrative centers on the strict headmaster of Gurukul College, Narayan Shankar, whose daughter Megha tragically ends her life after he forbids her relationship with Raj Aryan, the college’s music teacher. The plot unfolds as Raj guides three students and their romantic pursuits, ultimately challenging Narayan’s rigid views on love.

Mohabbatein was a major box office success, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of the year with global earnings exceeding Rs 90 crore, according to Box Office India. Directed by Aditya Chopra in his second directorial venture after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the film also garnered 12 nominations at the 46th Filmfare Awards, leading the pack.
