What Did Doctor Doom Do During Secret Wars? Robert Downey Jr Might Reprise The Same

The Secret Wars in the comics featured a vast array of heroes, including Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Hulk, She-Hulk, Thor, the Wasp, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and the X-Men, such as Wolverine

What Did Doctor Doom Do During Secret Wars? Robert Downey Jr Might Reprise The Same

There have been four different storylines titled some variation of Secret Wars, each with varying levels of involvement from Doctor Doom. The original Secret Wars, a 12-issue series from 1984 to 1985, featured the powerful Beyonder bringing heroes and villains to a place called Battleworld to see which side would prevail.

Doctor Doom, refusing to be a mere player, managed to steal the Beyonder’s power. However, he soon found that wielding such immense cosmic energy was beyond his control, and the Beyonder reclaimed it during a rare moment of weakness for Doom.

What Did Doctor Doom Do During Secret Wars?

Doom did not have a significant role in the follow-up event Secret Wars II. Doctor Doom was also absent from the Secret War storyline of 2004-2005, which involved Nick Fury manipulating a group of heroes, including Daisy Johnson, to infiltrate Latveria and destroy Doom’s castle, resulting in the death of many civilians.

In the Secret Wars (2015-2016) series, Doom played a pivotal role. This storyline was the culmination of a long-running saga in Avengers (2012) and New Avengers (2013), where the heroes discovered the phenomenon of Incursions—events where realities collided, with only one surviving.

While the Avengers failed to prevent these crises, Doom, with help from Doctor Strange and Molecule Man, succeeded in harnessing the power of the Beyonders. He used this power to save fragments of various alternate realities, merging them into a new Battleworld.

Doom took on the title of “God” and ruled over this patchwork world, encountering a version of the Fantastic Four that lacked Reed Richards. He married Sue Storm and they had two children, Franklin and Valeria, effectively replacing Reed in this reality.

However, survivors from Earth-616 and Earth-1610 eventually challenged Doom’s rule. They devised a plan that ultimately transferred the Beyonder’s power to Reed Richards, who then restored the Multiverse.

In doing so, Mister Fantastic also sought to give Doom a fresh start by healing his facial scars and altering his memories so that Doom believed Richards was dead, while in reality, Richards and his family were working with the Future Foundation to restore the Multiverse.

Now, speaking of Robert Downey Jr, who will be seen playing the role of Marvel villain Doctor Doom in new Avengers movies, might walk on the same line as that of the comics. The plot, however, has not been revealed yet.

What Is The Origin Of Marvel’s Secret Wars?

In Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars (1984) #1, created by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton, many of the most iconic heroes from the Marvel Universe—such as the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and the Hulk—were unexpectedly transported to a mysterious spaceship in an unknown void.

This event marked a significant moment in Marvel history, as it was the first time these heroes had all been brought together in such a manner. Despite the sense of security in numbers, the heroes were puzzled and unsure of how they arrived there or why.

The heroes then noticed a similar ship nearby, filled with some of their most formidable foes, including Galactus, Ultron, Doctor Doom, and the Enchantress.

They witnessed the Beyonder, an immensely powerful being, destroy an entire galaxy in an instant, replacing it with a patchwork planet called “Battleworld.” The Beyonder created this planet as a battleground for the heroes and villains, urging them to fight each other with the promise that the victorious side would have their deepest desires fulfilled.
