Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up to embark on the most demanding project of his acting career. Set to portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s epic-drama Ramayana, the actor is diving into a role of significant magnitude. Despite the production team keeping details tightly under wraps, leaked images and videos purportedly from the sets have surfaced online. The leaked footage offers glimpses of intricate architectural structures being erected to recreate the ancient time period.
A social media user shared two photos allegedly from the Ramayana sets, sparking speculation about her potential involvement with the film as a crew member. One photo revealed a set under construction, adorned with numerous pillars, wooden walls, and a dome structure reminiscent of a temple.
Reports from February 2024 suggested that Ranbir would undergo rigorous voice and diction training for his role in Nitesh’s film. A source revealed, “Ranbir possesses a distinct baritone and a unique delivery style. His voice is instantly recognizable, and in ‘Ramayana,’ Nitesh aims to ensure Ranbir’s portrayal of Lord Ram sounds distinct from his previous characters.” The actor, known for his versatility, is embracing the challenge of experimenting with something new.
Amidst casting discussions, Sai Pallavi’s portrayal as Goddess Sita has been confirmed, while there’s speculation surrounding Sunny Deol potentially portraying Lord Hanuman. Although no official announcements have been made by the producers, Bobby Deol has been approached to play Kumbhkaran. Additionally, rumors suggest that Vijay Sethupathi might take on the role of Raavan’s youngest brother, Vibhishan.
After much anticipation and excitement, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, has commenced filming, with a special pooja reportedly marking the beginning on Tuesday. According to reports, an elaborate set worth Rs 11 crore has been erected to depict the city of Ayodhya in the movie.
It’s reported that Ranbir is slated to join the production in mid-April, undergoing 3D scans beforehand to ensure accuracy in portraying the character of Lord Ram. The filmmakers have spared no expense, constructing a massive set to represent Ayodhya, along with sets for the gurukul, the forest of exile, and the streets of Ayodhya. Additionally, a special set will be created to showcase the land of Mithila, where Ram and Sita’s wedding occurred.
Ramayan is planned for release in three installments, with the initial part focusing on Lord Ram’s youth and marriage to Sita, concluding with Sita’s abduction. While Ranbir is set to commence shooting first, Sai Pallavi is expected to join the production in July. Arun Govil, rumored to portray King Dasharath in Ramayan, will begin filming after the Lok Sabha elections, as he is contesting from Meerut. An official announcement regarding the film and its cast is anticipated from Nitesh Tiwari, with details currently being kept confidential.
