Cold Wave Tightens Grip Across North India; Delhi Shivers at 9.4 Degrees Celsius

A relentless cold wave envelops the national capital as Delhiites wake up to chilling mornings, with a thin layer of fog blanketing the city on Sunday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports a temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius in Delhi, following Saturday’s minimum of 9.6 degrees Celsius.

In Uttar Pradesh, Meerut experiences reduced visibility due to a dense layer of fog, contributing to a further drop in temperatures in the city.

Punjab and Haryana continue to endure cold weather conditions, with Bathinda emerging as the coldest place on Saturday, recording a minimum temperature of six degrees Celsius.

IMD data reveals minimum temperatures across various cities in Punjab, with Ludhiana at 9.2 degrees Celsius, Patiala at 8.6 degrees Celsius, and Amritsar at 11 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and Faridkot record their minimum temperatures at 12.9, 6.5, and 10.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In neighboring Haryana, Karnal reports a minimum temperature of 8.7 degrees Celsius, while Fatehabad records six degrees Celsius. Hisar, Bhiwani, Sirsa, Ambala, and Narnaul report their respective minimum temperatures at 6.5, 8, 9, 10.5, and 10 degrees Celsius.

The prolonged cold spell is impacting the daily lives of residents in these regions, emphasizing the need for precautions to combat the harsh weather conditions. Authorities are advising citizens to take necessary measures to stay warm and safe as the cold wave persists across North India. The IMD is closely monitoring the weather patterns, providing timely updates to keep the public informed about the evolving conditions.
