PM Modi’s Day 2 in Varanasi: PM to launch 2nd ‘saffron’ Vande Bharat, 402 km Section of Eastern Freight Corridor Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi, witnessed a flurry of inaugurations and development initiatives, solidifying the government’s commitment to the region’s progress. On the first day, PM Modi launched various projects, including the Kanyakumari-Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train and the introduction of multi-language and braille translations for classic Tamil literature like Thirukkural and Manimekalai.

Participating in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, PM Modi interacted with beneficiaries of government schemes and emphasized the need for a collective resolve to propel the nation toward development. The visit also included a walkthrough of stalls and a visit to the Viksit Bharat Yatra Van and Quiz event.

As the second day unfolded, the Prime Minister geared up for another round of inaugurations. At 2:15 pm, he is set to flag off the second Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat train, featuring superior passenger amenities such as onboard Wi-Fi infotainment, GPS-based passenger information systems, bio-vacuum toilets, and more. The saffron-colored train will travel through key stations, including Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Itawa, Tundla, and Aligarh, before reaching its destination in New Delhi.

In a significant boost to the logistics sector, PM Modi will also launch the New Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction segment of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). This corridor, built at a cost of ₹10,903 crore, spans 402 km and connects crucial coal fields in West Bengal and Jharkhand to power plants in northern India.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will participate in the village edition of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, underscoring the government’s focus on holistic development. At 11:30 am, he will inaugurate the Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi.

PM Modi’s visit signifies a comprehensive approach to development, blending infrastructure improvements, cultural initiatives, and logistics enhancements, promising a transformative impact on Varanasi and its surrounding regions. The regular operation of the Vande Bharat Express is slated to commence on December 20, 2023, further enhancing connectivity and convenience for passengers on this crucial route.
