A 35-year-old man was detained on Monday for allegedly raping a 20-month-old kid in Mumbai’s Worli neighbourhood, police said.
The offender was detained and a case was launched against him yesterday by the Worli Police on the basis of the victim’s mother’s testimony under Section 376 of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused will appear in court today, according to the police.
According to police, both the perpetrator and the victim live in the same neighbourhood.
According to the authorities, the girl’s mother had left the house for a short period of time when the accused took her to his home and raped her.
When the victim’s mother returned, she was sceptical since her daughter had been weeping. According to the authorities, when she transported the girl to the nearest hospital, the doctor informed her that the youngster had been raped.
The girl’s mother went to the nearest police station and filed a report.
The police reacted quickly, and the offender was apprehended yesterday, they added.
