Know the participating states in 2023 elections

The year of 2023, will be politically significant since a number of high-stakes political contests are expected to occur and maybe set the stage for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Elections for state assemblies are scheduled to take place in at least nine states in 2023, from the northeast to the west and south to the centre of the nation. For the anti-BJP parties, who have been vociferous about creating a solidified opposition for some time, this year will play a crucial role ahead on 2024 general elections.

Let’s have a look at 2023 upcoming elections:

Tripura- To elect all 60 members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, an election for that body is slated to take place in Tripura by March 2023.

Meghalaya- To elect all 60 members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the 2023 election is expected to take place in Meghalaya before March 2023.

Nagaland- Nagaland will have elections by March 2023 to choose all 60 members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Karnataka- In order to elect all 224 members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, an election is expected to take place in Karnataka before May 2023.

Chhattisgarh- To elect all 90 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly, the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election is expected to take place in November 2023 or earlier. The state’s current Chief Minister is Bhupesh Baghel.

Madhya Pradesh- The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election of 2023 will elect all 230 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly and is expected to take place in November 2023 or earlier. When the election takes place, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is anticipated to be the current chief minister.

Mizoram- The 2023 Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election is planned to take place in or before November–December 2023 to elect all 40 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly. When the election comes around, Zoramthanga is anticipated to be the chief minister in place.

Rajasthan- The election for the 200 seats in the state’s Legislative Assembly of 2023 is expected to take place in or before December of that year. Currently serving as the state’s chief minister is Ashok Gehlot.

Telangana- The 119 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly will be chosen in the 2023 Telangana legislative assembly election, which is expected to take place in or before December 2023. At the time of the elections, K. Chandrashekar Rao of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi is anticipated to be the current chief minister of state.

Jammu & Kashmir- Elections for the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which would have 90 members, are predicted to take place in 2023. Since November 2018, the legislative assembly has been dissolved.
