On Tuesday afternoon, moderate tremors were detected in Delhi-NCR and portions of northern India, including Chandigarh and Mohali. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 and impacted India, Pakistan, and China.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported magnitude 5.4 tremors in eastern Kashmir at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. According to preliminary assessments, the quake struck at a depth of 30 km, 18 kilometres from Gandoh Bhalessa village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. Jammu and Kashmir saw strong tremors.
The tremors were felt in other parts of northern India, including the national capital of Delhi and its surrounding territories.
According to a Local Srinagar shopkeeper, schoolchildren were startled by the jolts, and people in the stores fled. “The earthquake scared the schoolchildren,” a local claimed. People hurried out of stores. It was terrifying. This was more powerful than last week’s earthquakes…”
