A contingency plan is in place to address potential medical emergencies during the G20 Summit, as per reports by official sources. Approximately 50 ambulances, staffed with medical personnel, will be stationed at hotels, airports, and the main summit venue, Bharat Mandapam.
Key hospitals including RML and AIIMS are on standby for any unforeseen situations. These hospitals will collaborate with a fleet of 50 ambulances situated near hotels, the airport, and the G20 venue. Additionally, medical arrangements will be established at the G20 Summit location itself.
Specialized teams with dedicated medical staff will be available around-the-clock to provide necessary medical assistance to attending delegates.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is anticipated to oversee the medical contingency preparations for the G20 summit.
Scheduled for September 9 and 10, the G20 summit will be hosted in Delhi. India assumed the G20 Presidency on December 1 of the preceding year.
Founded in 1999 in response to the Asian financial crisis, the G20 initially served as a platform for Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to discuss global economic and financial matters. Following the worldwide economic and financial crisis in 2007, it was elevated to the level of Heads of State or Government. In 2009, it was designated as the “premier forum for international economic cooperation.”
Collectively, G20 members represent approximately 85 percent of the global GDP, over 75 percent of global trade, and about two-thirds of the world’s population.
