56 Died Due To Rain-Related Incidents At Himachal Pradesh

In a recent development from Himachal Pradesh, the emergency operation centre has recently announced, that around 56 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents.

Ever since the monsoon has started, the Himalayan state has also suffered a loss worth Rs 410 crore. As per the State’s data, 21 individuals have died due to fall from the heights. Other 18 people have died due to unintended drowning. The remainder 8 people lost their lives due to snake bites & electrocution.

However, no casualties have been reported due to landslides or cloudbursts. 1 individual died due to flash floods.

Meanwhile according to the centre, around 100 houses have been destroyed and the PWD (Public Works Department) have endured the loss worth Rs 172 crore. Besides PWD, horticulture sector endured the loss worth Rs. 39 Crore.

Weather Update Of Himachal Pradesh

As for the weather, the Shimla meteorological office has issued a ‘yellow’ alert, forecasting heavy rainfall in isolated areas across eight districts of the state until July 31 and met office has predicted wet weather until August 2.

In addition, the weather department also warned about damage to plantations, crops, vulnerable structures, and temporary houses from strong winds, as well as waterlogging in low-lying areas.
