An explosion from a transformer placed outside the Civil Court gate in Patna resulted in at least one fatality and numerous injuries on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Pirbahor police station area of the state’s capital. Initial reports indicate that one lawyer lost his life in the explosion, while many others, predominantly lawyers, sustained severe burns.
The deceased lawyer, identified as Devendra Prasad, was a person with disabilities. Police officials and a fire brigade team have arrived at the scene. Frustrated advocates are staging a sit-in protest and demanding answers from the authorities regarding the incident.
The other four injured individuals are also lawyers. They were engaged in court proceedings when the transformer experienced a short circuit and subsequently exploded. The injured parties have been hospitalized at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), with their conditions described as critical. In response to the event, lawyers have organized a demonstration against the district administration. More details are awaited. We will keep you posted.
