Baba Siddique’s Killers Practiced Shooting From YouTube Videos: Mumbai Police

Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, two individuals accused of murdering former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, reportedly learned how to shoot by watching YouTube tutorials, according to the Mumbai Police. The police, as cited by ANI, revealed this during their ongoing investigation into the high-profile murder case.

So far, the Mumbai Police have arrested four suspects, while three others remain at large, prompting the formation of multiple teams to apprehend the absconding individuals. The Mumbai Crime Branch, leading the investigation, has recovered a 7.62 mm gun used in the murder, along with a black bag containing additional evidence.

The accused were reportedly given a photograph of Baba Siddique to identify him before carrying out the attack. Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, the alleged shooters, had conducted surveillance of Siddique’s residence and office for 25 days prior to the assassination. The police added that the suspects had practiced shooting without a magazine in Mumbai after learning the technique from online videos.

In a significant development, the fourth suspect, Harishkumar Balakram, was arrested in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. He allegedly provided financial support and coordinated logistics for the crime. Balakram, who worked as a scrap dealer in Pune, is believed to have played a key role in the conspiracy, with two of the other accused—Dharmaraj and Shivprasad Gautam—working at his shop.

Baba Siddique, 66, was ambushed and shot dead near his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area late Saturday night. Despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he was pronounced dead. His funeral was held the following day.

According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, the planning for the murder was orchestrated in Pune. The police have recorded statements from more than 15 individuals, including eyewitnesses present at the scene. The suspects reportedly claimed links to the Bishnoi gang, a criminal syndicate known for orchestrating high-profile crimes, with its leader Lawrence Bishnoi currently incarcerated in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail.

The case has drawn attention to the Bishnoi gang’s wide-reaching criminal activities, underscoring their ability to coordinate major crimes even from behind bars.
