On Saturday evening, a 24-year-old man lost his life in a shooting incident in Delhi’s Seelampur area, while another individual sustained injuries, following an attack by an unidentified group. The victims, identified as Arbaaz and Abid, both residents of Delhi’s Jafrabad, were targeted near a public toilet in the Brahmpuri Pulia area of Seelampur around 8:30 PM.
Upon receiving the report, an FSL Team and Crime Team visited the scene, seizing ten empty shells (7.65 mm). The authorities are examining CCTV footage for further investigation. A case has been registered at Seelampur police station under relevant sections of the IPC, addressing the alleged charges of murder, attempt to murder, and violations of the Arms Act against the unidentified assailants.
North East DCP Joy Tirkey stated that the incident occurred around 8:45 PM, resulting in the death of Arbaaz and the referral of the injured Abid to the hospital. Arbaaz suffered multiple gunshot injuries on the left side of his head, chest, and abdomen, leading to his declaration as brought dead at JPC Hospital. Meanwhile, Abid, aged 22, sustained multiple gunshot injuries on the left side of his head and waist, receiving treatment at GTB Hospital.
Officials highlighted Arbaaz’s criminal history, which included five cases for offenses such as riot, extortion, Arms Act violations, attempt to murder, and murder. Similarly, Abid had been involved in a murder case in 2018 when he was below the age of 18.
