Workers and supporters of the Aam Aadmi Party are anticipated to congregate in huge numbers today in front of the CBI offices, where Mr. Sisodia is being detained. The group also intends to demonstrate today at approximately 12 o’clock in front of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi headquarters.
A day after Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in connection with the alleged liquor excise policy case, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Monday said: “I am told that most CBI officers were against Manish’s arrest. All of them have huge respect for him and there is no evidence against him. But the political pressure to arrest him was so high that they had to obey their political masters.”
Soon after Sisodia was arrested by the CBI following eight hours of questioning Sunday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trained its guns at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, terming him the ‘real kingpin’ of the excise scam, and added that ‘he was next.’ Since July last year, the BJP has gradually stepped up its attack on the Delhi government on a host of alleged corruption charges building upon the foundation of L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena’s recommendation for a CBI probe in the ‘Excise Policy Scam.’
