Security forces ramped up anti-terror operations across Kishtwar, Udhampur, Poonch, and Rajouri districts on Saturday, following recent encounters where two soldiers lost their lives and two terrorists were killed, officials reported.
In Kishtwar’s Chhatroo area, a joint operation in the Pingnal Dugadda forests entered its second day, with reinforcements joining the effort to track down terrorists responsible for the deaths of two Army personnel, including a JCO, and the injury of two others during a gunfight the previous day.

Officials said a large area remains cordoned off as security forces deploy drones and modern equipment to locate the terrorists, who escaped under cover of darkness and dense foliage. So far, there has been no fresh contact with the fugitives.
A separate massive search operation is underway in Udhampur’s Basantgarh area, covering Khandara Top, Kudwah, and Raichak, where two Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were killed on September 11, officials added.
Searches are also being conducted in the forest regions of Surankote in Poonch and Nowshera and Thanamandi in Rajouri district, they said.
