AIADMK Unveils First List of Candidates For Lok Sabha Elections 2024

The AIADMK made a significant announcement on Wednesday, revealing its first list of 16 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The list, unveiled by party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, includes candidates for various constituencies across Tamil Nadu.

During the announcement, Palaniswami mentioned that the AIADMK has allocated five constituencies to the DMDK, one each to Puthiya Tamilagam and SDPI. He emphasized the party’s confidence in its strength and expressed optimism about receiving support from the people. Palaniswami also addressed the absence of an alliance with the PMK, stating that AIADMK remains strong on its own and is open to welcoming other parties into its alliance.

The AIADMK’s alliance for the upcoming elections includes the SDPI, Tamil Manila Muslim League, Manitha Neya Jananayaga Katchi, and Puthiya Tamilagam. Krishnasamy, the Founder of Puthiya Tamilagam, expressed his satisfaction with being part of the AIADMK alliance and confirmed that their candidates will contest on an individual symbol as allocated by the Election Commission.

The candidates announced by AIADMK include AL Vijayan from Arakkonam, Jayaprakash from Krishnagiri, Vignesh from Salem, Saravanan from Madurai, Attral Ashokkumar from Erode, and others. Notably, former AIADMK Minister D Jayakumar’s son Jayavardhan will contest from South Chennai.

The Lok Sabha Elections in Tamil Nadu are scheduled for April 19 in a single phase of polling. The Election Commission of India issued a notification detailing the nomination filing dates and polling phases for various states, culminating in the counting of votes on June 4.
