Access to cancer treatment for children received a significant boost as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NGO CanKids KidsCan. This agreement aims to improve survival outcomes and provide holistic care services to young cancer patients at AIIMS.
AIIMS Director M. Srinivas emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “This alliance with CanKids KidsCan will streamline the treatment process for cancer-affected children and their families. Our partnership, which began in 2004 with one center at AIIMS, has now expanded to 141 treatment centers across India. We remain committed to bringing hope and positive outcomes to those fighting cancer.”
He added,*”CanKids is dedicated to enabling early diagnosis and referral for timely treatment, thus significantly improving access to care. We are partnering with State Governments and other key stakeholders to enhance these efforts. Currently, CanKids has established MOUs with eight state governments and serves as a knowledge and technical partner for childhood cancer. Our goal is to improve Access2Care to 50% by 2025 and achieve 100% by 2030 through 16 state projects,” said AIIMS Director M. Srinivas.*
