Air India on Bangladesh Crisis
On Monday, August 5, Air India announced the immediate suspension of all flights to and from Dhaka due to the escalating situation in Bangladesh. This decision follows growing speculation about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s potential visit to India and a heightened alert issued by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the India-Bangladesh border.
In response to the current crisis, Air India has canceled all flights to Dhaka. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and is providing a one-time waiver for rescheduling and cancellation fees for passengers with confirmed bookings. The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority. For more details, please contact our 24/7 Contact Center at 011-69329333 or 011-69329999,” Air India stated.

On Monday, Dhaka was hit by widespread protests and acts of vandalism, triggered by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and her departure from the country amid intensifying student-led demonstrations. Reports and images on television, local media, and social media showed looters raiding Sheikh Hasina’s official residence and seizing food supplies.
Protesters also stormed the Parliament building, taking various items. In response to the chaos, Bangladesh’s military chief, General Waker-uz-Zaman, has called for an end to the violence and announced that an interim government will be established soon.
