Akhilesh Yadav Takes a Swipe at Rahul Gandhi, Mocks Caste Census as an ‘X-ray

Mocking Gandhi's statement, Akhilesh Yadav remarked, "The biggest miracle is that the Congress is also advocating for a caste census.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav asserted on Monday that a caste census could be swiftly completed in just three months. While addressing a rally in Bahoriband in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh took a dig at the Congress, characterizing their call for a caste census as a ‘miracle,’ according to PTI.

In response to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s analogy of a caste census being an X-ray, Yadav quipped, “Why X-ray when advanced technologies like MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computed tomography) scan are available.”

During a poll rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna, Gandhi had emphasized the importance of conducting a caste census to determine the exact number of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the state, likening it to an X-ray that would inform policymaking for their welfare.

Mocking Gandhi’s statement, Akhilesh Yadav remarked, “The biggest miracle is that the Congress is also advocating for a caste census. The same people who talk about X-rays are the ones who halted the caste census after Independence.”

Elaborating on his assertion that a caste census could be completed in three months, Yadav explained, “The counting of castes can be done in three months. All the necessary data is readily available, considering everyone possesses an Aadhaar card. So, why would it require more time?”

Opposition parties, including the Congress, have consistently called for a comprehensive caste census throughout the nation. The grand old party has gone a step further, pledging to conduct the census if entrusted with power.
