Amit Shah to visit Arunachal Pradesh today, interact with ITBP personnel in Kibithoo

Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, will travel to Arunachal Pradesh today to attend various events and meet with ITBP personnel at Kibithoo.

Amit Shah will start the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ (VVP) in Kibithoo, an Arunachal Pradesh border village. The Government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the VVP with central components totaling Rs 4,800 crore, including Rs 2,500 crore specifically for road connectivity for the fiscal years 2022-23 to 2025-26.

The VVP is a centrally funded scheme that has identified 2,967 villages in 46 blocks of 19 districts along the northern border in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, as well as the Union Territory of Ladakh, for comprehensive development.

In the first phase, 662 villages for priority coverage were identified, including 455 villages in Arunachal Pradesh. The VVP will serve to improve the quality of life of people living in specified border villages and encourage them to stay in their native areas, reversing outmigration from these communities and increasing border security.

The District Administration shall draught Action Plans for the nominated villages with the assistance of suitable mechanisms at the block and panchayat levels in order to ensure complete saturation of central and state initiatives.

Road connectivity, drinking water, power (including solar and wind energy), mobile and internet access, tourist centres, multi-purpose centres, healthcare infrastructure, and wellness centres are among the intervention target areas suggested for village development.

The Home Minister will also inaugurate nine Micro Hydel Projects of the Arunachal Pradesh government constructed under the “Golden Jubilee Border Illumination Programme” in Kibithoo.

These electricity projects will empower people living in border villages. He will also inaugurate Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) projects to augment infrastructure at Likabali (Arunachal Pradesh), Chapra (Bihar), Nooranad (Kerala) and Vishakapatnam (Andhra Pradesh).

An exhibition of products manufactured by women members of border district Self-Help Organizations will also be held. Amit Shah will visit display stalls to become acquainted with and appreciate the efforts of border village women. On April 11, the Home Minister will pay his respects at Namti Field and the Walong War Monument.
