Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam tomorrow to attend a series of government programs in Guwahati. He will be accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior BJP leaders.
HM Shah will inaugurate the newly constructed Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Sualkuchi in Kamrup district. The ICP is a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of Assam. It is expected to boost trade and commerce between India and Bangladesh.
Shah will also lay the foundation stone of a new medical college and hospital in Guwahati. The medical college and hospital will be built at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. It is expected to provide quality medical education and healthcare facilities to the people of Assam.
Shah will also address a public rally in Guwahati. He is expected to focus on the achievements of the BJP-led government in Assam and the party’s plans for the future.
Shah’s visit to Assam comes at a time when the BJP is facing a challenge from the Congress in the state. The Congress is trying to regain power in Assam after being out of government for six years. The BJP is also facing a challenge from the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). The AIUDF is a regional party that is popular among the minority Muslim community in Assam.
