Amritpal Singh’s wife, fleeing to UK, detained at Amritsar airport

Kirandeep Kaur, the wife of Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh, was detained by Punjab Police on Thursday and was subsequently “not permitted to travel” from Amritsar to the UK, according to ANI reports.

A flight operated by Air India was reserved for Kirandeep Kaur, and it was due to depart from this location’s Shri Guru Ram Dass International Airport at 2:30 p.m. According to airport sources, Kirandip Kaur, Amritpal Singh’s wife and a citizen of the United Kingdom, was due to board Air India Flight No. 117, which was scheduled to depart for Birmingham at 14:30. She reported to the immigration counters at 12:20 hrs., but the ANI reports claim that because she had a Look Out Circular issued against her, immigration officers did not allow her to travel and held her.

Kaur was stopped from boarding her flight.
Earlier ANI report stated that she was stopped by Immigration Department officials from boarding the flight.
“Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur has not been detained yet. The Immigration department is questioning her,” ANI reported citing its Punjab Police source earlier.

Punjab police have been on a hunt for Amritpal Singh since March 18, when he had gone absconding. Punjab police said last week that it had arrested Joga Singh, a close aide of the fugitive Khalistan sympathiser and radical preacher, from Sirhind in the Fatehgarh Sahib district.

He was arrested in a joint operation by Amritsar police rural and Hoshiyarpur police.
Papalpreet Singh, another close aide of the fugitive Amritpal Singh was brought to Assam’s Dibrugarh Central Jail after his arrest earlier this month from Amritsar’s Kathu Nangal area.
