Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and ex-MP AP Jithender Reddy, along with his son, has joined the Congress party in Telangana. During the event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and All India Congress Committee in-charge Deepa Das Munshi were present.
In his letter to BJP National President JP Nadda, Jithender Reddy mentioned that the party suffered significantly following the change in state leadership, impacting the recent assembly elections.
He highlighted that despite expectations of winning at least 25 seats, the party secured only 8 seats in Telangana’s 119-member assembly.
Jithender Reddy also expressed concerns about the party prioritizing newcomers over longstanding members in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He had raised these concerns at both state and national levels multiple times.
Following his entry into the Congress party, the Telangana government appointed A.P. Jitender Reddy as a Special Representative in New Delhi and Advisor to the Government for Sports Affairs.
The government issued an order placing him in Article 18 of the Warrant of Precedence, a measure specific to his position during his term without formal changes to the State Table of Warrant of Precedence.
