Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande emphasized India’s unwavering commitment in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, asserting that the nation’s actions exemplify a clear and steadfast pursuit of national interests. Speaking at the 118th annual session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) held at Vigyan Bhawan, he underscored the pivotal role of India’s foreign policy and diplomacy in the current global landscape.
In his address, General Manoj Pande stated, “The results of our endeavors are evident in our active participation in various bilateral and multilateral initiatives. This includes our engagement in the international solar alliance, global bio-fuel alliance, coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure, trade agreements extending lines of credit, and our leadership in addressing global challenges.”
Highlighting India’s growing influence on the global stage, General Manoj Pande noted, “We are witnessing a new revolution, and the recent G20 summit reflects India’s ascension.”
Regarding China’s approach to geopolitics and trade, General Pande remarked, “China, with its economic might, often perceives international agreements as zero-sum games. Their assertiveness beyond their region poses a threat to rule-based organizations.” He further emphasized India’s resolute response during the events of April-May 2020, which garnered international attention and support for India’s political and military resolve.
General Manoj Pande also discussed India’s commitment to self-reliance, saying, “Our efforts are directed towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India). We continue to invest in trials and research and development.”
Furthermore, General Manoj Pande praised the Agnipath scheme as a groundbreaking initiative, stating, “Agniveers, selected under this program, will emerge as disciplined, dynamic, and skilled individuals after a four-year period, ready for employment in various sectors.” He added that up to 25 percent of Agniveers would have the opportunity to join the Armed Forces as regular cadres based on organizational requirements.
In a separate address at the same event, Union Home Minister Amit Shah celebrated India’s deep-rooted democracy as a significant achievement over the past 75 years. He acknowledged India’s achievements on the international stage, including the success of Chandrayaan-3, Mission Aditya L-1, and the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill.
Shah commended the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) for selecting the theme “Rising India: Yahi Samay Hai, Sahi Samay Hai” (This is the right time) for the summit. The PHDCCI, an organization active for 118 years, has played a crucial role in promoting Indian industry, trade, and entrepreneurship across the nation, with a forward-thinking and dynamic approach.
