Army Dedicates 115-feet Long Bridge To Residents of Last Village at LOC

According to the Defence Public Relations Officer (DPRO) in Srinagar, the Indian Army on Tuesday dedicated a bridge to the people of Danna, the final village on the Line of Control in the Machhal Sector across Machhal Nala in Jammu and Kashmir.

In honor of the Late Major Bhagat Singh who gave his life defending this area in the 1965 war, the 115-foot-long bridge was given the name Bhagat.

In honor of the liberation warrior Bhagat Singh, Danna Village is now also known as Bhagat Village. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was done by Mian Gul Khan, a 90-year-old.

The bridge was raised thanks to the meticulous work of Indian Army engineers, who toiled for two months despite constant rain and unfavorable circumstances to offer some relief to the villagers who have long been troubled by problems resulting from a lack of motorable roads and a bridge across Machhal Nala.

The DPRO statement said, “The bridge is a monument to the Army’s dedication to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, be it in defending the borders or helping them to develop a prosperous and peaceful Kashmir.

Children, women, and senior citizens from seven communities that benefited from the bridge’s construction attended the dedication ceremony.

The community expressed gratitude to the Army for giving them access to a facility that would allow them to send their kids to school and ease the transfer of the sick and elderly. The message also stated that they hoped this would attract tourists to their region.

The opening of the bridge serves as a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by the Indian Army to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country as it marks its 77th Independence Day. Additionally, it emphasizes the Army’s commitment to forging close ties with regional communities and devotedly advancing their welfare, the statement said.
