In the early hours of Monday, the Indian Army successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the general vicinity of Degwar Terwan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch region. An ongoing search operation is being conducted in the area following the incident.
According to Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, the Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Jammu, the encounter was initiated around 2:00 am when contact was established through an ambush by the Garhi Battalion in Poonch. Two individuals were observed crossing the LoC in the general area of Degwar Terva. During the ensuing exchange of fire, one terrorist was seen falling, while the other was spotted heading toward Pintu Nala. The search operation in the region is currently in progress. Further details are anticipated as the situation evolves.
In a similar incident on the preceding Sunday, a joint operation was conducted by the Indian Army and Kupwara police in the Tangdhar Sector. In this operation, a terrorist was eliminated while attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control in the Amrohi area of Tangdhar Sector. The Kashmir Zone Police confirmed the operation’s success, mentioning that incriminating materials, as well as arms and ammunition, were seized during the operation.
The Indian Army and local law enforcement remain vigilant along the LoC, working jointly to prevent infiltration and maintain security in the region.
