Ashok Gehlot slams BJP as ED summons his son

Gehlot lashed out at BJP while talking to the media in Jaipur, “The situation is worrisome. They have unleashed terror in the country.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot lashed out at BJP after the Enforcement Directorate summoned his son, Vaibhav Gehlot, in connection with a foreign exchange violation case under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA).

Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra’s Premises were also raided Amid a Money Laundering Probe by the ED.

Gehlot lashed out at BJP while talking to the media in Jaipur, “The situation is worrisome. They have unleashed terror in the country.” Further targeting the BJP, he said the ED raids happen whenever there are elections to be held, be it in Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, or Himachal Pradesh.

“We will win the election,” said Gehlot, adding that Congress will not be scared no matter how hard BJP tries. The minister accused the BJP of targeting him through ED raids to topple the government.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the BJP, highlighting that government agencies like the ED, CBI, and the Income Tax Department seemed to align with the BJP’s interests during election periods, suggesting their possible misuse for political gains.

“I have received a summon. 12-13 years ago similar allegations were made and we had responded to them. Now again, ED has come. People of Rajasthan do understand why this is happening when a model code of conduct is imposed in the state,” said Vaibhav Gehlot.

Rajasthan’s CM highlighted a stark contrast in ED’s activities pre and post-2014, indicating increased raids but fewer charge sheets. Meanwhile, the summoning of Vaibhav Gehlot is linked to the recent raids on Triton Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd. and others, whereas Dotasra and Omprakash Hudla faced ED scrutiny in the alleged exam paper leak case.

After the ED raids Congress workers, sat on a dharna in Sikar and Jaipur and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
