The Election Commission set up the facility of voting at home via postal ballot on Wednesday in order to make it easier for senior citizens and people with disabilities to exercise their franchise. District teams were deployed to arrange home voting for senior citizens over the age of 80 and people with disabilities using postal ballots, as specified in Form 12 D.
To ensure that no voter is left behind, Election Commission teams made long treks to the most remote areas of East Khasi Hills District. Absentee ballots are used by absentee voters.
Furthermore, Voter Facilitation Centres have been established by BDO offices in several blocks and the SVEEP Cell, EKHD to provide voters with a one-stop solution for any queries or issues they may be experiencing.

On February 27, voting for the 60-member Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will take place in a single phase. The votes will be counted on March 2.
