According to Maharashtra police, twelve people were killed and over 25 were injured when a bus crashed into a ditch in the Khopoli area of Raigad in the early hours of Saturday. He went on to say that a rescue operation was underway.
According to Raigad Superintendent of Police (SP) “There were 40 to 45 people in the bus, out of which, seven people have died while more than 25 people are injured, the rescue is still underway, a crane has been called to pull out the bus.”
According to the site, the bus crashed into a ditch, and the windows and roof of the ill-fated vehicle were completely destroyed in the accident. Rescue workers were seen using ropes to bring the accident survivors to safety.
Passengers on the bus belonged to a Goregaon-based organisation that had travelled to Pune for an event and was returning.
