Ayodhya: Ram Mandir To Be Open For Devotees Before 26 January Next Year

Nripendra Misra, Chairman of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Construction Committee, confirmed that pilgrims can see Lord Ram in his youthful form at the temple before January 26, 2024, with the initial phase expected to be completed by December 2023.

Chairman Misra outlined that the temple’s ground floor encompasses five mandaps, commencing with the sanctum-sanctorum, where the deity will be enshrined. He clarified that the specific date for the consecration (pran prathistha) has yet to be determined.

“I will not be able to give you the exact date because that would depend on the date announced by the Prime Minister’s Office for the participation of PM on the last day of Pran Pratishtha, which has yet not been fixed. The date has not come from the Prime Minister’s Office and we have to respect the decision of the PM’s office in this matter”, he conveyed in an interview with a media outlet.

Responding to inquiries about the anticipated visitation schedule for pilgrims to the revered Lord Ram temple under construction in Ayodhya, Misra, a former principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, elucidated, “Their dream has come true. The temple is a reality. The temple will be completed in two parts, the first part – Phase 1 will be completed by December 2023.”

He proceeded to expound that Phase 1 encompasses the ground floor of the temple, occupying approximately 2.6 acres of land. The ground floor is adorned with five mandaps, commencing with the sanctum-sanctorum, where the deity will be enshrined. Misra detailed the intricate craftsmanship, highlighting 160 pillars, each embellished with 25 distinct iconographical works.

He emphasized, “The work on the lower plinth, which tells Ram Khatha, that is based on carving on the stone and it is taken from Valmiki Ramayan, about 50 per cent of that would be completed.”

The construction of the Ram Temple, a historic endeavour, has been advancing steadily under the auspices of the ‘Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra’ Trust, established by the Centre following the Supreme Court’s pivotal verdict in 2019 on the Ayodhya dispute.

On August 5, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for this monumental undertaking, an event that marked a significant milestone in the realization of this cherished aspiration.
